As 2023 rolled in, I found myself embarking on a journey into the field of data engineering. I took that first step. Fresh in the field, the skills I built as a data analyst/business analyst added some insight, but I was aware of the learning curve that lay ahead. This year has been a true testament to the power of patience, consistent learning, and the invaluable support of the data engineering community, all of which have been instrumental in my professional development.

I wanted to briefly elaborate and share the three biggest mindsets that have put me on the right path into 2024:

**Patience: A Virtue in the Data Realm**

Data engineering, I quickly learned, is not just about technical skills; it’s equally about patience. In my first few months, I faced numerous challenges: understanding data pipelines, grappling with new platforms and technologies, and sometimes, simply trying to make sense of error messages in my code. There were moments of frustration, but patience became my savior. It allowed me to approach problems methodically, breaking them down into manageable parts and, bit by bit, finding the solutions.
