How I ran all six Abbott Marathon World Majors for the Six-Star medal. A marathoner’s journey since 2012.

For those who run and for those who don’t there are always ways to challenge and push ourselves to the very limit. I was fortunate and grateful for the years spent training and racing marathons to pursue and push that limit. The Abbott Marathon World Majors was an opportunity to do just that…
It took over a decade but I became an Abbott Marathon Six-Star finisher to cap off this year in 2022. My average finishing time was under 2 hours and 47 minutes for each marathon which is between 6 to 7 min/mile. A marathon is a long-distance running event with a distance of 26.2 miles (42.195 kilometers). It is one of the most popular and well-known running events in the world and is held in cities and towns around the globe. It takes training, patience, and dedication to complete a marathon, and I believe anyone can do this if they put their heart and soul into it. Here is my story.
The Abbott World Marathon Majors, what is it?

The Abbott World Marathon Majors (AWMM) is a series of six of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world: the Boston Marathon, the Virgin Money London Marathon, the BMW Berlin Marathon, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, the TCS New York City Marathon, and the Tokyo Marathon. These six marathons are considered the “major marathons” and are considered the most prestigious and competitive marathons in the world.
The marathon has its roots in ancient Greece, where it was believed to be a tribute to the messenger god Hermes, who was said to have run 26 miles from the battlefield of Marathon to Athens to deliver news of a great victory. Today, marathons are held for a variety of reasons, including to raise money for charity, to promote fitness and healthy lifestyles, and as a way for runners to test their endurance and stamina. Marathons typically attract a large number of participants, ranging from amateur runners to elite athletes, and are often accompanied by other running events, such as half marathons and 10K races.
